ESL Teacher – Hmong Cultural Center

Job Summary: The 30 hours a week Adult ESL Teacher will be responsible for teaching an in-person Intermediate Work English class to adult basic education students at Hmong Cultural Center (HCC). Hmong Cultural Center is a member of the Saint Paul Community Literacy Consortium (SPCLC).

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching an in-person Work-oriented ESL class four days a week using a set curriculum to refugee and immigrant adults with an emphasis on important skills embedded in the CASAS standards.
  • Lesson planning
  • Participating in local Adult Basic Education professional development opportunities.
  • Outreach to recruit new students

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year experience teaching ESL or Functional Work English.
  • Experience working with Immigrant/Refugee communities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience teaching ESL/ELL to adults.
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in North American English.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Schedule: 30 hours per week, In-Person Classroom instruction – M-TH 9 :30 AM – 1:30 PM.

Salary: $20.00 per hour
