Stock Phrases:
“When we think about the pillars that support a thriving community, education tops the list. But often, we focus solely on childhood and adolescent education, overlooking a crucial segment that can reshape the landscape of our workforce and societal fabric: adult education and family literacy. Here’s why these vital initiatives aren’t just beneficial—they’re essential.
“Promote economic growth at the state and national level – average annual income of an adult with a proficiency in literacy averages $63,000 compared to adults with lower proficiency at $48,000.” (Barbara Bush Foundation)
“Strengthen the skills of parenting adults and caregivers.” (National Center for Families Learning)
“Foster inclusive, supportive, and multi-generational learning.” (Family Learning Center)
“Boost adults to engage in their communities through interaction and even integration into the workforce.” (Family Learning Center)
Supporting and promoting adult education and family literacy is an investment in our state’s future. It’s a call to action for all community partners—business leaders, policymakers, educators, and citizens—to come together and champion a cause that yields dividends in prosperity, innovation, and social equity.
Let’s inspire change, one adult learner at a time. Join us in making adult education and family literacy a cornerstone of our educational system. Together, we can transform lives and uplift our entire community. Let’s educate, empower, and excel!
“Minnesota has always been a state of innovation, opportunity, and welcoming spirit. Our Adult Basic Education and ESL programs are the embodiment of these values. They are not just educational initiatives – they are economic engines, community builders, and pathways to transformative opportunity.” (Dr. Barbara Gorski)
“In Minnesota schools, children of ESL learners are 40% more likely to be actively engaged in their own education when their parents improve their language skills. You’re not just learning English – you’re lifting entire family ecosystems.” (Dr. Barbara Gorski)
