FT Distance Learning/Digital Literacy Teacher – Adult Education Center – Columbia Heights/Fridley

Adult Basic Ed Teacher: Full-Time 12 months/205 days/7 hrs a day
Schedule: Monday thru Wednesday and Friday: 8:30am – 1:45pm; Thursday 8:30am – 3:00pm w /.5 unpaid meal break; AND Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 4:45pm – 8:45pm
Locations: Adult Education Center – Columbia Heights/Fridley, 4111 Central Avenue NE, Suite 100, Columbia Heights, MN
Duties: Provide direct instruction to adults learning English as a Second Language through Distance Learning platforms (DL) and digital skills instruction. Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction for Distance Learning platform orientations, support learners within core classes on DL platform use, monitor students on various DL platforms, conduct ongoing assessment, monitor student attendance, attend staff meetings, collaborate with other staff, keep student records and DL data, update site webpage, and support the DL Literacy Asst and site volunteers. Explore new DL platforms, advise staff on use of DL platforms, and integration of DL platforms into classroom learning, and implement the CCRS/ACES/NorthStar standards. Teach a math group on Tuesday mornings and evenings – online. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Current MN Teaching License, or ABE License, or Masters degree in ESL, applied linguistics, or bilingual education. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment. Ability to work as a team member. Digital literacy skills required. Must be physically working in the building/onsite.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with diverse populations preferred. Experience in an adult ESL academic program preferred, Experience using distance learning platforms and integrating technology into learning preferred. Bilingual skills a plus. Experience using communicative and cooperative teaching strategies and integrating technology into learning, preferred.
