#IamABE is a group comprised of ABE teachers committed to amplifying students’ voices, educating students about how they can communicate with the government, and creating awareness about who ABE serves and what it does. With the November election approaching, we want to know how candidates in Minnesota will support ABE. We are looking for teachers and/or students willing to contact the candidates in their local elections and ask for their support for ABE.

We also prevented any policy changes that might affect the formula, as well as any targeted allocations to specific ABE providers outside the formula.

At the December meeting, the Board adopted the following statement: "The Literacy Action Network stands by our students, colleagues, friends and volunteers who are facing oppression and/or discrimination.  As an organization we denounce such behavior as at odds with our standing concern for health, safety and happiness of our diverse society.  Adult basic education has a long history of fighting for social justice, and we continue our commitment to democratic and egalitarian values."
